Internship Program for Gn's in the ED

Published

I was wondering if you could give me some feedback on how the ED Internship is handled? We have applied for a waiver to intern GN's in our ED. We are currently in the "review" process and knowing that you have been successful with your program I was hoping to glean from your experience.

How to you set up their year of clinical training?

Do you have them attach themselves to their preceptor's hip and run with them and just pick up things as they go?

Do you schedule extra staff so that the preceptor is 1 to 1 and can work on specifics?

Does your preceptor take an assignment and have the extra responsibility of the preceptee?

We are trying to brainstorm to come up with different ideas on how to best serve the clinical needs of our GN's so any help would be truly appreciated. Thank you for taken the time to consider our request.
