Internship Experience

hello,

i am currently a student at ut austin getting my degree in biomedical engineering. i plan on graduating in dec 07. after that i hope to get into an accelerated nursing program in houston (either utmb or ut-h). i know admission into the program is highly competitive so i wanted to gain some experience in the nursing field. so my question is whether it is possible to get in internship or experience as a nurse even though i am currently not a nursing major nor do i have any prior experience? anyone have any clue? also if anyone knows of any specific programs in the houston area i would greatly appreicate the help.

thanks

Ummm,

Well dont get me wrong. I love BME as a major. I have learned so much and it is very interesting, but depending on what you personly like the job market seem pretty grim. If you are interested in the imaging or electrical tech area of BME then i would say your in good shape. If you are more interested in the tissue engineering or drug delivery then i would reccommend you think twice about it. BME is also a great way to go if you plan on researching for a living or if u plan on doin Med school.

I personly am interested in the drug delivery aspect, but after speaking with my advisors and factuly I have come to the realization that most companies wont pick me over a pharm or chem E major. Plus engineering in general lacks the human interaction that i think i would like to have.

But this is my personal opinion, Hope i didnt discourage you if you want to do BME, but defintly reseach it before you decide. Where are you planning on going if you do BME?
