Interesting little article.

it's funny i was on yahoo today and found this article.

hospitals are hiring now, and there's no sign of slowing in the future. the country has been facing a nursing shortage for decades. with the population aging, the need is only going to increase. to get in on the action, you'll need to complete a nurse-training program. going on to earn your bachelor's or master's of nursing can broaden your future work prospects and help get you hired in a tight market.

now, i don't know where they are talking about but with people in such of a panic in the graduate nursing forum i found it kind of funny that they claim that hospitals are just hiring all over the place. or have i missed something?

Looking statistically, the expansion of nursing is documented. The amount of new hires last year was massive, which is why the profession seems to be hiring in general. This explosion of new nurses also probably accounts for the apparent job shortage right this moment.

The BLS is reporting an increase of 517,000 RN jobs in the next 7 years (2.5 million currently, so a substantial increase) and 105,000 LPN/LVN jobs. Granted that these projections are likely 2 years old (from the 2008-2009 reports, likely written in 2007). But regardless, media will still use the BLS projections when writing articles because realistically, the BLS is the most reputable source available in terms of job statistics.

I live in a part of Texas where lots of people have horses. The blacksmiths are in high demand and make a good living. Same is true with any profession. If there is a demand in your area then the jobs pay well. Otherwise, if you live downtown you probably do not need a blacksmith.
