I'm so scared and just don't know what to do.

Hi, I currently finishing my prerequites for the nursing program and I have one semester left in spring. After that I will apply and and wait on the list to get in a program. The wait time for Arizona is usually 1-2 years. The problem is that I just found out the my fiance is pregnant with twins. We already have a ten month old son. I know it was my irresponsibility that got me in this position. I love my son with all my heart and love those twins that are on the way. I work weekends at a psychiatric hospital which is 40 hours and it allows me to do homework and study. My fiance will be leaving work soon and I will be the only income for a while. We don't have that many bills only rent, electric, gas, and food and the babies now. My fiance is going to try get some type of assistance. I want to be a nurse so bad. I mean if I couldn't be a nurse I don't know what I would do with my life. I know it's going to be very hard, but I think I am up for the challenge. I just want to know if someone is in my shoes possibly or similar or maybe some encouragement. I will do whatever I have to do to finish. Evn my inlaws are telling me I can not drop out of school. I am 22 going on 23 and feel so much pressure right now. Please some one help me!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with the twins too. I am a twin myself, and my parents needed to buy 2 of everything. Well, at least I'm 19 now, but still. I hope you get into nursing school man. That would lighten so much burden from ya though you may be more stressed than usual once you're in.

I wont say it's going to be easy, because it wont. I have 3 year old twins of my own. Between student loans, pell grants, and your salary from the psych hospital, (IF YOU BUDGET PROPERLY AND STICK TO IT) you may be able to make things work. If your in-laws live nearby, even better because your fiancee's going to need a support system, and you're going to be gone a lot between work and school. When you get home at the end of the day, you're going to be exhausted, and so is she. This is an extremely huge undertaking. This is a family decision; if everyone's on board, go for it. Good luck!

Well, i certainly can sympathesize with you! I have 7 people living in my house (kids, grandkids, hubby). Hubby does construction and as you know....right now there is no construction going on. We are very close to losing our home, cars, etc. I haven't started school yet but have already done some of my prereqs several years ago so that helps. I know it will be hard for you but in the long run that is an excellent way to take care of a family. I don't know about your state.....but if worse comes to worse......i know in my state there is alot of financial help for people who are students in demand occupations. For example, if we do lose our home.....we can qualify for housing almost instantly. By that I mean, Section 8 housing where the government pays some or even all of your rent. I guess what I'm saying is that there are all kinds of things to fall back on. I think if it's in your heart, it's there for a reason.

It sounds like you have the ambition and drive to become a nurse so keep with it and see where your life goes. What part of Arizona are you in? Have you tried looking into Banner nurse Fellows program? it is accelerated and they will pay for tuition and books. I just got accepted into the Oct 2009 cohort with the banner fellows program so I did not have to be on the wait list very long (1 month) and got to jump ahead of people that have been waiting for a long time. Or once your on the wait list maybe you can get into the part time nursing program so you can work as well. Don't stop, follow your dream of being a nurse. Good Luck

thanks everyone for the support and yes rickelli i live right down the street from banner and there is two extra prerequites i have to finish to apply for their program so i will be considering that too. thanks!!!!!!
