I'm so confused

Published

My patient is a 18 month old infant in pediatric unit for pneumonia. His must be there at all times to watch the child, however she is an end-stage renal patient and is trying to manage her own health. I am using the nursing diagnoses "Family processes, altered....".

The thing I'm confused about is that my patient's mom use some type of self-managing dialysis procedure. I never knew that you can have a dialysis procedure done outside of a dialysis clinic or hospital. Does anybody know what i'm talking about and if there is a specific name for this procedure?

It is done by the patient in their home with support from a dialysis company such as Fresenius or Davita.

Some patients also do home hemodialysis.
