Ielts requirements

My name is khushboo and I am a bsc nurse in India. I have 3 years of experience and have been having thinking of moving to Canada for immigration and work. Can you please tell me as to what IELTS do I need to take and what is the score that I have to score in each module in order to register as a nurse there??

Immigrate first then transfer your license over. Both are separate things and one does not help with the other. You can't practice as a nurse here even with a Canadian license if you don't have a proper status to work. I tell this to all the foreign nurses..

With IELTS requirements, NNAS is the website you should go thoroughly read on your own time. Might as well read it yourself since you will be the person applying for your license.

Which province do you plan to live/work in? Not all provincial regulatory bodies (RBs) require applicants to provide proof of English language proficiency at the time of their nnas application, some (such as the College of nurses of Ontario) accept it later on in the application process. The reason some RBs allow the English proficiency to be submitted later, is because it can take two years to become licensed in Canada and the IELTS can expire before the IEN becomes licensed, which means they would have to re-take the English test.

Do not wait until you immigrate to Canada to start the licensing process, there are many steps to go through.The first steps is applying to national nursing assessment service nursing nnas.ca. It can take 8 months to a year for an IEN to receive their advisory report from nnas.

It really depends on which province you want to go to, but some provinces other than Ontario only allow PR holders to take refresher courses so it is important for applicants who not only have Ontario set in mind to at least figure out how they are going to immigrate prior to starting NNAS. Provincial nursing colleges give people a time limit on how long they can have for obtaining their license. The best thing to do is at least get NNAS processing started 1 year before people anticipate getting their PR (or after they at least a federal immigration processing number) so that before they leave their home country they can get all the school and work related documentation (which is also hard to do for many people from Asia once they are in Canada). I think timing is very important and people need to stagger immigration and licensing to make things run more smoothly.
