IC and Pain

Well I am at the end of a rope with my interstital cystitis. The pain is making me crazy, not to mention going to the bathroom every 2 seconds. Pain management and my doctor (urologist) don't belong in the same sentence. My urologist is the only one who specializes in this so I just can't stop going there. At this point I'll try anything and everything......Any thoughts?

My mother has IC. She has tried many different meds and has gotten the most relief from Tegretol.

I have had IC for 9 years now, diagnosed when I was 15 by a cystoscopy. Much of my pain relief came from the drug Elmiron prescribed by my urologist. Another way we do to control pain is once a year I go under anesthesia to have a cystoscopy with hydrodialation of the bladder which apperently stretches the bladder out in which the blood lesions on the inside wall of the bladder fall off. So for a few days after the procedure you usually have a foley catheder where you can see those blood lesions falling off. It really really helps my pain for a long time afterwards.

I also see a pain specialist for IC which is connected to the fibromyalgia I have. Just thought i would share what I do for my pain. Curleysue
