I work at UPS, but...

I am studying for nursing assistant which takes a few months. I was planning to stay at UPS for a while because of the tuition and benefits. No, I can not have two jobs because I am going for the bachelor of science degree in nursing which requires a lot of studying. UPS is a good company and the hours are convenient.. so you think I am wasting my time for nursing assistant or I should go for it to learn more what RN can do.. etc?

I do not know much about working as a nursing assistant.. like how many hours does nursing assistant do per week?

    Normally I would say go for a CNA job because it can only do good things in preparing you for a nursing career.

    Buuuut... it's easy to tell someone that if they work in retail (or anything else that's low pay and super aggravating). The pay and the benefits are much better at UPS and it's probably not worth it to give that up. The hours aren't as flexible as CNA hours, which is the only drawback. As a CNA you can work any 3 shifts, from 8 hours to more than 40 a week. So some people choose to work 3rd shift so they have time for school, and other people will work doubles on weekends and take the weekdays off.

    Thanks! This is a hard decision. I still have time to drop the nursing assistant program because I start in November. However, if there's a part-time for nursing assistant, I will go for it. I prefer working at hospital to learn.

    I dunno yet :) working doubles on weekends and taking the weekdays off seems great.

    Also, if there's a waitinglist for the BSN nursing degree, I will just work as a nursing assistant until then. As of now, I am staying at UPS until I finish with A & P 1-2 , Chemistry 1-2 , and macrobiology. I need good grades for those classes.
