Does being a cna help twords the bsn program at all as for skipping a couple classes? Also I got an outlook for tarleton university *texas* bsn program and i have to take SUMMER CLASSES! for the first 2 years, does every other bsn program have to do the same??
Any tips or advice would be GREATLY appreciated

It's good that you're seeking into a career that interests you at an early age! Being a CNA gives you a better idea of what nursing is all about. :wink2: Most BSN programs do not require you to be CNA certified. Schools like UTMB and UTEP will ask out of curiosity on the application form if you already obtain one. I do know for a fact that UTMB will exempt you from taking some course if you are already CNA certified. I'm not sure if this still holds true today. You may want to double check by contacting them. Although gaining experience as a CNA is a plus, ultimately, it all comes down to GPA. The higher the GPA, the better chance you will get into the school of your choice. Since you are looking into Tarleton State Unversity, there is actually quite a few posts about this school: https://allnurses.com/forums/f175/texas-bsn-fall-2008-a-287629.html

For the schools around these parts, having a CNA doesn't really affect the admissions nor the coursework. In my program, it is required to hold the certificate but we don't need experience.
Our program is an accelerated program and we do take summer classes. The regular BSN programs around here do not have mandatory summer classes.

I'm also CNA certified and it does slightly help your chance of getting admitted into a BSN program. I only applied to University of Texas (in Houston) BSN program and they require an interview. During the interview, I gave them all my qualifications of why I'm a good candidate to be a future student there and of course, experience is key. But you want to make sure that you don't concentrate on work because I know that they're looking for DEDICATED candidates that put school above anything else. So, keep doing what you're doing... but focus more on school and not on breaking your back for a job that pays 1/4th the money you make as a registered nurse in the future. Good luck to you!
