Hi everyone. I just joined this forum after browsing for the last few days. I am so glad I found this place!
I already have a BA in Psychology and am in an unrelated career right now which I find not as fulfilling as I had hoped. I have been seriously considering applying to nursing school for next fall, but I am so lost! I want to become licensed as an RN and I would like to get a BSN. I have some of the requirements needed for nursing school such as intro to sociology, english 1 & 2, I took pre-calc as an undergrad. But I don't have any of the sciences. Will I have to take these before I even apply? I was thinking of taking Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology in the spring, but the deadlines for the two schools I am interested in are in December, early January. Will that be ok? I guess I should talk to an advisor at the schools. I just was hoping for some advice from here so I can go ahead and register for the two courses. I had around a 3.5 gpa and a 3.89 in my Psychology major. I also don't know who I will get recommendations from since I graduated like two years ago and am no longer in contact with any old professors. Also I do not plan on telling my current boss about it, so she won't be able to give me one. My grandmother was the head nurse of a nursing home for literally 50 years (she retired at 80) but I don't think family can write recommendations.
Any one know of some good general sites to help explain the pre-nursing process? I'm sorry if this has been posted a hundred times.

The best place to start is your potential school(s). Every program requires different things, so I don't think anyone here can give you exact answers. Maybe reply to this thread with the school you are interested in attending and it is possible there could be a few here in that schools program.
The more classes you get under your belt before NS starts, the more stress you relieve. You need to take Biology courses, and if you thrive, maybe one of those professors can give you a recommendation.
Unfortuately you can't wake up in the morning and be a nurse. I've already tried it :rotfl:
What's a few years...time still passes no matter what you do, so you might as well do something constructive! The way I see it, I can be bummed that I will be 37 when I graduate, but no matter what I do with these next 2 years...I'll still turn 37. I've never wanted to age fast...until now!!!
Good luck!
