Hello all,
I've been working as an NP for a few months now in the retail setting, and whole I love what I do, I keep getting sick! Any advice on how to keep this from happening? I am always very meticulous about washing my hands, wiping down door knobs, counter tops, phones, and I even wear a mask with those who come in coughing. I've never been one to get sick until I started working here, and it sucks! And yes, I am a brand new NP.

Consider office things that get touched by staff.....pens....keyboards.....reference books.
If other staff are less meticulous than yourself, they could be contaminating your environment.

My first year in peds I was sick all the time. Finally I built up my immunity (and probably got better about hand washing). Now I rarely get sick. I agree, wipe down your environment, take vitamins, get good sleep and it'll get better.

I am working at a holistic family practice and we help people restore their immunity all the time. First thing is making sure you have enough Vitamin D. Its really important with your immune system. Be sure and get adequate sleep, at least 8 hrs to rebuild your immune system :). Eat breakfast and keep almonds or some type of tree nut around to snack on during the day. I hope this is helpful
