Hurst Review vs. Kaplan

Nursing Students NCLEX

I can't decide which NCLEX review I should enroll in. Has anyone done the Hurst Review? If so, how was it?

Thank you,

The real question comes down to what do you feel you need.

If you believe you are weak in content then I would take the Hurst Review.

If you believe you are good with content but need test taking strategies then Kaplan is the review for you.

My school required us to take a review course before our names would be released to the BON, many of us chose to do Hurst and found it to be a pretty good review. However, it is not the only thing we did; I used Saunder's NCLEX-RN for their 5000+ questions, Kaplan Premier 2015-16 for the strategy and practice tests, and the Lippincott Q&A Review. Did I go a bit overboard, I think so but I wanted to be prepared and not take the exam a second time.

It really comes down to what you need, how you learn and how you study. Best of Luck!

Although I have not tested yet, I am doing both Hurst (online) and Kaplan (school provided). If you are very weak at content, I would go with Hurst. Kaplan on the other hand helps you with strategies and gives you a ton of questions i.e. QBank and QTrainers. Kaplan also has sections of videos such as reviewing content (which is incredibly long and could not handle to be honest, lol) and review of questions (which I LOVE because the person explains how to approach a question, why you would choose it, and etc.) If you know your content, use Kaplan to utilize to ability to do questions. If you aren't the greatest at content, take Hurst because they make you REMEMBER. But if you are like me who is a little weak in both, I would invest in both if you can or find a free version of one of the other. I find myself answering Kaplan questions (which I heard is supposedly harder) much easier because Hurst gave me the content.

I hope you figure things out! Good luck! :D
