Hurst review course question

I did it about 2 weeks later. What they will tell you is to be sure you KNOW all the material they provide you in their book, and then they give you a list of stuff to download for review, and tell you to do it on your own time. I'm not sure I liked how they handled the extra material, but I *did* pass.

Congrats! I took it already and didn't pass so I am hoping this course helps. But I wanted to test as soon as possible after so the material is fresh in my mind? I def don't want to wait longer than two weeks after. Thanks for your help!

aside from hurst what other material/s did you used?

As soon as you feel comfortable with the material but I really recommend taking nclex as soon after completion of school as possible. You need to have it fresh in your mind.

A friend of mine took the Kaplan course and gave me the book, I read it but think I need an actual course in the classroom to get the full benefits. I plan on taking the Hurst course Aug. 10-13 and testing the 14th! Fingers crossed...I know I can pass this time!

A handful of us got together every day for a week, 6 hours a day, to do questions out of several books, including Saunders.

The thing to do when you take your exam is to make 3 columns on your white board, and keep track of how many questions you knew, how many you totally had to guess on, and how many you narrowed down to 50/50 chance. Hurst tells you that all you need to do is to get more right than wrong, and when I considered how many questions I knew plus half of those 50/50 questions, I knew I was well over the "more right than wrong" range, so I was pretty darn sure I passed.

Everyone who took the test before me didn't do this, and they came out thinking they failed, so they cried until the results were posted.

Also - there is no way you will know all the medications. I had 15 or 16 medication questions, and I never even heard of most of them. Just try to understand the most basic ones, plus understand how to recognize groups of meds (beta blockers = lol, etc) and their side effects. Also, the medication questions I had focused a lot on patient teaching.

First of all, let me say that I thoroughly enjoyed the Hurst review and I think you will too!! I went to every class and paid attention in class, although I did get sleepy, I listened to the instructor or Marlene very carefully. I purchased the online supplement as well, and went through every lecture a second time. I also did the mock NCLEX questions and watched the DVD that explained the rationales for the right answer. I took the Hurst review May 26-29 and took my NCLEX on June 8th. Ms. Hurst recommends that you allow yourself at least 7 days of quality study time to know the material before you take the NCLEX.
