I'm currently working as an RN in an ICU and have been following the hurricane effort quite closely. I, after speaking with my union rep, have decided to offer my assitance with the LA BON. I called my information in tonight, following a link on my state (NY) BON webpage. After speaking with the woman on the phone and letting her know that I'm available indefiantly, she said I should be hearing very VERY shortly as to what needs to be done.
Please, if at all possible, consider doing the same. The article states:
The LA-OEP (Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness) is requesting healthcare volunteers. This includes ALL levels of nursing expertise. There is a tremendous need for nurses. Call 225.389.2100 and ask for "Medical." They are expecting your call; if the line is busy, please keep calling.
