Hi there. I have been employed in a rehab/ltc settin for a year and a half and still consider myself a new nurse. I have been eaten alive as most of my peers have knowledge, longevity and are unit managers. There are only 2 Rns in the building that are not unit managers or adminstration. The other RN has been there going on five years, they have taught her everything. At this facility if you don't do it you don't need to know it so the unit manager and the other Rn do all the care plans, most of the admissions, discharges and MDS. I am wanting to learn these things and have asked repeatedly for someone to teach me and work on careplanning with me on the computer and they have not done it. I am to the point I am considering going elsewhere so that I can get experiene doing this as it is a major part of an RNs job. Do you think I am being impatient?
