Learn the drugs by class (i.e. beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, etc.) using the generic names. Generally there will be a pattern for the names (i.e. ACE inhibitors end in "pril"). Create your own drug cards. List the class, the generic name of one of the prototype drugs (ATI is good for this part), the trade name for the prototype drug you used, and then list out briefly the action / intended use, contra's that are unique for the drug (i.e. almost all have hypersensitivity listed so I skip writing it down as it is a given), common side effects (this is where nursing central is nice because it denotes which side effects are more common than others), and adverse ones. I typically note a small number of drug-drug / drug-food as well as best time to take (i.e. statins at bed time) and common labs. For those drugs that have antidotes, I list them as well. Then go over the cards often.
