I am finishing my first semester of school, and just took the HESI exam. My score was a 969.
Is this a good score? I know that the average and the score you "need" is an 850, but I was just wondering where exactly my score places me...if that makes any sense at all.
Our school does not require us to pass the HESI exam because they have an additional accredidation so we don't need it.

I scored over 1000. Pretty much though, the score only is an indicator of your chance of passing the NCLEX and with any score over 850 you have a good chance of passing.
I'm just happy that the semester is over. I'm starting to understand why people tell me nursing school was the hardest thing they ever did.

I just finished my first semester and I just took it too and ended up with a 1,061.
According to the info packet that HESI sends after you take the test:
"scores range from 0 to over 1,000 and can be as high as 1,500 (depending on the difficulty of the exam). An acceptable level of performance is 850, however the recommended level of performance is 900 and above for all scores provided." (HESI, 2008)
I'd say if you did above the recommended score, you're doing just fine. And frankly, if you did above the acceptable level in your first semester, you're doing just fine. Average HESI score in my program was 783 (yikes!).
Also, if these scores don't mean much to you, check out your conversion percentage and it will probably make you feel a whole lot better (ex. I got a 97.66%). :0) I'm okay with that. Considering your score was up there, you probably also have a high conversion score.
Nice work!
