Help w/ micro unknowns!!!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey everyone!! I start my unknowns next week and i am SO nervous....I've been trying to put together a flow chart, but I'm really struggling with it. I know this is a very important step to do before you start your unknowns, so I really need to get my stuff together. Does anyone know of any sites that have good flow charts on them that would be helpful???

Any advice????

Thank you so much!

I can't offer any websites, but just figure out which allowed tests eliminate the most unknowns, eg obviously do a Gram Stain first, then once you know if it's +/-, run a test that will eliminate the most organism options. I avoided the litmus milk test though, because it was so hard to read....

I actually like my unknowns project. We had 2 vials with 2 organisms mixed in each. We were allowed to run a total of 5 tests on each vial. They both ended up being staph epi. i thought for sure I was crazy, since I got the same results for both, but they were both right...

Go with your gut. I saw many people second, third and fourth guessing themselves and ended up killing their lab grade. Good luck!
