I am participating in a summer intern program for Sr. students at a large regional hospital and have my pick for which units to choose from (only PICU and ER are taken). We get one med/surg and one specialty. I am assigned to a Medical unit and need to pick a specialty. I don't have a definite plan for the area of nursing I will go into and I have wide-ranging interests. I really like to be challenged. I'm 2nd career, older, serious student.
Please give me feedback. Here are the options: Cardio, CCU, CSU, ECU, Ortho, Peds, RCU, MICU, Neuro, Oncology, PACU, Rehab, OR, TCU, SICU, Psych.
Any comments are welcome! Thanks a bunch!

Wow, wish I had even ONE to choose from. In OR you can't practice w/o a nursing intructor. =(
What are you wanting to do eventually? You have a lot of choices there.

I'm really not sure. I have done LTAC and did not like it. I have done Cardiac and liked it better but found it became routine. I want something where I'll have autonomy and be challenged. With some variety.
