Help in nursing interview for the PICU :(

Published

Hello,

I was wondering if any wonderful nurses out there could give me some advice about a PICU job interview I have next week. I'm a new grad but it has already been 6 months since I graduated. I started graduate school to become a certified nurse midwife in august. All my classes are online so I dont have to sacrifice working. The problem is I had an interview in the NICU but wasn't offered the job because they said I was more suited for L&D due to my graduate school track. L&D is my dream job but I have so many bills to pay I welcome any job at this point. How do I convey that even though I want to be a midwife, I want to work in the PICU for at least 1-3yrs?

Thanks!

P.S. Also any advice on what to expect in the interview is also welcomed :)

What school are you going through to become a midewife? I am thinking about doing that as well but I need it to be online. I wish I had some advice for you. I would love to get into L&D but as a new grad that is just not going to happen :( I think PICU would be an awesome experience. Not really sure why they would have a problem with you furthering your education. If you get hired into PICU you will likely be there for a couple years as you get through graduate school. I would think that they wouldn't have a problem with that. I hope you get the job! :)

I am a pedi nurse cross trained to PICU and wish I could help but I am in the same boat. It is near impossible to get into l&d! I am applying for next year at SUNY Stonybrook, Frontier, and Philadelphia university to be a CNM. Best of luck on your interview! What school do you go to??
