hello everyone. i've been working in a busy medical surgical floor for about 10 months now. i really don't like this floor and I always cry every time I go home after work. recently, there is an opening in a clinic (same hospital) and I've requested a transfer. I will be interviewed in 2 weeks and i'm just wondering if you guys can help me with some of the questions. I really don't know how to answer, "why do you want to leave your current position so soon?" without sounding too negative. One answer that I could say is "I prefer working days than nights" What do you think? any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Write down your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the clinic position. Think of examples from your current experience that will help you to transfer into to the clinic role, for example do you have excellent assessment skills? do you have experience giving patients clear instructions over the phone or in person? Have you taken any workshops or training in the patient population you are applying to work with? Prepare for the interview and try to demonstrate that you have a genuine interest in the position and understand how you can contribute to patient care in a clinic setting.

In my opinion, med-surg is really trying at times, so I understand your despair! What kind of clinic will you be going to? An appropriate answer would be one focused at the type of clinic you will be applying for. Something from the heart and always positive. Keep a smile on your face and show examples of why you would be good for the position. I hope this helps just a little, and good luck to you!
