Help! I just accepted a position, but now I'm interviewing for NICU!

Hello!

Background: I have been a casual RN on a surgical oncology unit for 8 months. In the past 4 months I have been applying to positions on my unit, surg/onc, but didn't get them (everything is based off seniority and more senior nurses got them). On Monday I accepted a 0.6 temp position that starts February 6th. I also applied for several NICU jobs (my dream job), and later in the afternoon on Monday I was called for an interview (it's on thursday morning). It's crazy how everything seems to happen at the same time!!

If I am offered a position on the NICU I will 100% take it. I know I actually need to get a job offer, but how would I tell my current managers that I need to resign? Also, I'm sure the NICU managers will want to do a reference check- I would tell my current managers after my interview?

I don't want to burn any bridges on surg/onc, I really love that job and hope to stay on as a casual employee. I'm just so stressed out about this!
