Have you relocated?

Originally posted under WA nursing programs discussion in error :):

I am in love :redbeathe with the Pacific Northwest and have dreams of moving there someday. I currently live in the south...it is hot! The terrain is boring (to me, I know others who think it is beautiful). I do not have the luxury of living in the deep south with the piney woods, etc. I have visited the Seattle area and found it absolutely beautiful and breathtaking! Everything is nearby, beaches, mountains and TREES!!! I am starting an ED residency this month which has a two year commitment. I am hoping that after the commitment is completed (and I make it through the residency) that maybe, just maybe I might be able to seriously consider relocating.

My question is to those of you who relocated to WA state. What have been your pros and cons of moving? I would think that most relocated because of the scenery and people (loved my visit there!). Are you glad you made the move? Regrets?

I know the decision is ultimately mine (and my family), but just wanted some input from those who have relocated. Thanks! :D

Edited to add: I love gray days! Too much sun for me and I get depressed...I know, very odd....

Only thing that got me was the rains. But you said you love gray days so I think WA will be a perfect fit for you. Awesome places to visit. It probably wont be hard for you to find a job after your 2 years ED experience either.

The only other con that I can think of is may be higher tax?? I personally dont have prb with it, but just saying. But then again you dont have to pay state tax, which most of the other states take so that kind of evens out too.

Thank you RNmee. I think I can deal with the taxes. The location is totally worth it!
