Had an interview...now what?

I had a great interview for a med/surg FT nights position on Tuesday (5/24) afternoon. I haven't heard anything yet and someone on my reference list let me know last night that he hasn't been called either. How long should I wait before calling and asking my status? Should I just hang in there and hope that no news is good news?

Thanks!

Do you think maybe they might be interviewing more people? Or they could be looking and verifying your application and References? I would probably check back in by the end of the week the following week. Good luck to you!

Thanks, I guess I'm just nervous. I had a previous job interview for an ER position at a different hospital and they emailed the next day that I didn't get it.

UPDATE:

It's been 2 weeks now and I still haven't heard anything. I called Friday and left a message at human resources and today I called the nurse recruiter and left a message. Is this unusual to have gone 2 weeks and not heard anything? I'm getting rather discouraged. :crying2:

EDIT:

Nevermind - it's back to the drawing board - just got an email that says I didn't get it.
