Griffin Tech LPN program

Published

Has anyone gone through the LPN program at Griffin Tech? Did you find a job in the Atlanta area after? I was going to go to Gordon but I needed to finish a&p2 and micro over summer..they only offer them at the same time so that is out. I have orientation at Griffin on the 24th for entrance into the healthcare assistant program. Does anyone have some advice? I don't know if I should continue at Gordon and finish prereqs by the end of Fall 2010 or start at Griffin and then bridge. I am unsure of which path to take! Help!

I am at Griffin Tech right now and just finished my core, applying in May. I am doing the LPN and then bridging to my RN simply because it was more cost effective for me to do so. If you're already at Gordon I would stay there and finish the last 2 core classes you have for the RN program. Not that I don't like Griffin Tech, it just seems like you would be back tracking more than neccecary!

thanks i think you are right.:)

I need some advice on what I should do. I am a current student at Southern Crescent Tech... aka as Griffin Tech. I have 2 more classes which are drug calculation and sct100 and then I will be ready for the LPN program. They will open the program on May 9 2011 and my courses will be over on june 13 2011 so I will not make the cut. I am thinking about transferrring to Gordon ASN degree. Because even if I brige I will still need the core classes. If I take the core classes for RN at Griffin will they transfer? Should I wait around and see if I get picked up at griffin?

Cant really tell you how to decide to stay or go, but I have been taking all the core under the Radiology program at SCTC because they all transfer to Gordon, except AHS 104, and ANH 109. I am waiting now to hear from Gordon, I applied to there ASN program for fall 2011. I only have 2 classes to take at Gordon that SCTC didn't offer: PSY2130 and History. I have been at SCTC for a year now. No matter what I will be going to Gordon in the Fall even if I don't get into the program.

Okay.. So you took the Radiology because those core are equal to core for the ASN degree nursing? Thank you.. So I am wondering since I have 2 classes left for the LPN progrm if I should change the degree to Radiology?

I changed my Major after 1 quarter because LPN does not let you take any classes that transfer to Gordon, or any other college. The LPN core are not degree core classes. Radiology is a degree and requires you to take degree level courses ex. College Algebra, English 1101, and 1102, Pub. Speaking, Biology 2113, 2114, 2117.Psyc 1101 is as far as griffin offers so I took it and will have to take Psyc 2103 at Gordon, anf History that Griffin doesn't offer. I also took Humanities 1101 at Griffin to fufill requirements of Gordon.

I have a friend that look the LPN core at Griffin and transfered to Gordon only to find out that none of her classes transfered with her. She had to start all over again.

Oh the SCT 100 does transfer to Gordon...

I'm making a post for all those looking into Southern Crescent Technical College hopefuls for 2016 Fall entry. I had not idea that I could attend close to home! I have been looking for the cheapest route to completing a RN program. IS there anyone else planning to apply this Fall to Southern Crescent technical (formerly Griffin Tech) ASN program? I did notice the TEAS for the next upcoming is sold out.

I am applying for southern crescent ADN program for the fall. I am currently studying for my teas. They are only taking 30 students

@lildee When are you taking the teas ?
