generic care plan

What's meant by doing a generic care plan.

we were assigned to do 2 care plans

the dx is depression

does this mean both care plans are on depression with different nursing diagnosis?

A generic care plan is a care plan without a specific patient. In a way, it's easier because you don't have to adapt it to your patient's unique assessment.

Basically, what would you want to do for any patient with depression?

What assessments do you expect for a person with depression? What goals should they meet? What interventions will help anyone/most people with depression? How would you evaluate those interventions?

And you're done!
