Hi there, I am a nursing student at UVIC in Victoria but I live in the Lower Mainland. My hospital of choice is Surrey Memorial Hospital. Since I haven't had much clinical experience working in the Lower Mainland, I was hoping if anyone could let me know some units that are good stepping stones once I graduate next year. So far I've heard not to work at 3 East, 3 West, 5 East & 5 West as there is a trend of increased workload for nurses and it's not a good starting point for a graduate nurse. Any other suggestions?

No matter what unit you work on, there's going to be a steep learning curve from nursing school. You're going to have some level of imposter syndrome coming to work everyday and question your ability to provide adequate care. My suggestion is to apply to whatever unit you are interested in. It helps when you have a passion for that specialty in order to be motivated to learn more. It also helps having a supportive team on the unit as well.
