Fresno State or Fresno city college, anyone??

I'm trying to get into City's program. I would try for State, but from what I've heard, the City program gives you a lot more clinical experience [and the starting GPA for acceptance into the State program is fairly high, somewhere around a 3.8, and I only have a 3.4 (trying to do all this with two little children kind of took my GPA down)]. What's frustrating is that I've already had to wait one year (been denied twice for the lottery system), and I should be finding out soon if I make it in for the fall 2007 program. I know it can be an average of two years before an applicant makes it in (and not even doing the paradigm program helps much anymore, since there are so many paradigm applicants, as well). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get in soon, because I worry about losing too much of what I learned doing my prereqs.

Hi thanks for replying to my post! (wow I posted that a long time ago)

Yeah I applyed to Fresno State with a 3.6 and didnt get in. the cut off was 3.63 (one percentage point away!) Dont listen to rumors about GPA cutoff, I interviewed with the nursing adviser Penny, and I know for a fact the GPA cutoff was 3.63- It gets blown up to 3.8 and thats just not accurate.

Anyway I got into Fresno City though, Im in my second semester already. I dont know if its better than State but certainly quicker. And I got in on the first try- so keep applying you get in eventually. Lots of people in my class had applied multiple times.

And since I was ready to go to State I can just go right into the RN to BSN program when Im done, so there's advantages to getting general ed done.

If you have any questions about the program just let me know, I'd be happy to answer them. I have 2 small children as well and it is very life changing to go to nursing school- but if I can do it anyone can. I live in Los Banos for goodness sake!
