  1. I was wondering if there is anyone that had to get a booster after getting the initial titer for the MMR and still need a positive titer? I was laid off from my job and COBRA hasn't kicked in yet. I thought my benefits would be active as soon as my payment was received. I was notified today that it will not post to my account until the mid of January. I've decided to go to the same place we had our drug screening at, but they said it will take a week for the results to come back. Do you think this will have any impact on my acceptance into the program? The lady in charge of our lab work at FCCJ is out of the office until January 2nd.
  2. hi hot chocolate. i ordered my uniforms on oct 28 and received them on nov 3. you may want to call meridy's to check the status of your order. hours of operation: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, monday through friday telephone: 1 (800) 237-9164 good luck and happy holidays!
  3. :offtopic: Are there any first term students in sections 9 & 10 that have tried accessing the lecture schedule for Health Assessment on BlackBoard?? I have and it won't pull up -- I just want to make sure it isn't operator error... Thanks! :thankya:
  4. don, there's is no need to pay... they were super cheap... let's just call it my "here's-to-the-next-16-months" gift! i have no use for so many... so, get them while they're hot!!
  5. hi don... the dec 15 email with the attachment that you are speaking of is an email for term 2, 3, and 4 students for spring term. i'm not sure why they sent it to term 1 students -- it is fccj and at times their organizational skills are lacking. as for students in section 10... i bought id cases and clips -- they only came in a pack of 12, no singles... so if you guys need one i have 11 to spare. just let me know and i'll give it to you when classes start.
  6. I know hospitals in Jacksonville hire nursing students without any certifications. Just as long as you're in the RN program. You might wanna check up on that... Because there is no sense in spending the money if you don't need to... and being nursing students, we need to save all the money we can... GOOD LUCK!!
  7. Hey guys! Well, another email just came thru --- if there is a silver lining... here it is... Classroom uniform is recommended for spring term but will be required for all 4 terms beginning summer 2009... I hope this eases everyone a bit... This is our time to relax and prepare for what is ahead... Enjoy the holiday season with your family and friends... Then, come January it's all business...
  8. hi borntobe0312! both of the classes are hybrid classes and to my knowledge that is a class which you go on campus for half of the time and the remainder of the class is online. we should be going to class every wednesday of the semester. so instead of going two times a week, it is only one time. if i am wrong, someone please correct me. i just looked that the syllabus borntobe0312 and i see what you're saying. by the way it looks, we may not be meeting face to face --- many apologies. i'm going to ask nursing students that are in their second and third semesters and see what they say... and i'll repost.
  9. Thank you for the helpful information. If you have anymore info it would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Don, You're welcome. I'm always willing to help. I've been told by a nursing student that there are breaks, but I'm not sure of how often and for how long. A professor said in class a few semesters back that we are allowed a break for so many hours of class, but I believe that is at the professors discretion.
  11. tma: when i logged onto artemis friday night i was already registered for my classes and my scholarship already paid fccj. have you been receiving any of the emails that miss emily has sent out? i would email her to let her know that you have yet to be registered for your classes. (payment deadline is dec 18th) people in sections 9 & 10: did anyone notice that techniques/clinicals is 7a - 230p on artemis? the pink sheets handed out at the orientation on wednesday it says 7a - 130p for clinicals and class 8a - 130p. don: miss emily fwd an email from mrs. barrett – december 10th is the earliest that she will be able to get the student handbook out to everyone. if you would like me to fwd that email to you just let me know.
  12. thank you for the clarification. i just remembered her mentioning that if you were able to pay today to let her know and they will allows those to register today. toward the end of orientation it got a bit hectic with the lottery. thanks again. see you in january!
  13. don, at first i wanted section 9 but when it came time for me to pick a section my other three picks were already closed, but 10 was my second choice anyway. why did you want to be in section 9? i wanted that section 9 or 10 because of the professors and i wanted 9 as my first choice because of baptist. [color=dimgray]has anyone been able to register for classes yet?? it's says that i have been accepted into the rn prog but it still says the classes are on hold still. just curious.
  14. Thank you NJFek! :thankya:
  15. I'm eager for orientation too! Shands was right there on 8th street. I'm guessing you went left after exiting the freeway. After exiting 95 turn right just passed the McDonald's and it will be on your left hand side. I've been to Shands quite a few times. I was told by a few nurses that Shands is a good hospital for clinicals because there is a lot to learn from there --- I know for a fact that there isn't ever a dull moment at that hospital (speaking from experience) I have a question about the immunizations... On two of mine they came back equivocal -- my dr just gave me a booster for them... I need to do another series of blood work until it says positive, correct?? I just want to make sure. My dr. said I don't need to, but I don't want to risk losing my seat in the program because of that.
