what is the current protocol for flushing Infusaports prior to de-accessing? Specifically how much saline, how much heparin?

If you are talking about an implanted venous access port, then amounts can vary depending on ones P&P. The P&P where I currently practice is to flush the line with 5cc normal saline and then finish with heparin flush 5cc using a 100units per ml concentration. However, if labs were just drawn, then you should flush with 20cc NS after the blood withdraw and finish with 5cc heparin flush as above. (The heparin flush is used if you do NOT have a Groshong port)
