Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I suppose this is a cry for help. After reading numerous success stories, and the not-so-happy ones, I felt compelled to post my official self-study plan and see if I could get some guidance.

For starters, a little background about me:

  • graduated in the Philippines in April 2011
  • 2nd courser
  • reviewed live classes at kaplan for 4 months (back in june 2011) and did fairly well on the exams

Since I was waiting on my ATT, I wanted to work to keep myself busy, but once it arrived (November 2011) I took a leave of absence to review for NCLEX.

I've been rereading my kaplan books, looking over notes from the kaplan classes.... and doing about 200 questions a day, using Saunders, ATi, and Mosby's apps for the iPhone.

Has anyone used the apps on the iphone? are they similar to the actual exam? Which apps better to use?

Since I'm no longer working, all my time is dedicated to reviewing. I just wanted to make sure that I maximize my time since my exam is in a month. I've made my study schedule, which consists of listening to audio reviews part of the day, doing questions, then looking up the content for the topics I missed.

Will this suffice? I suppose since I'm the only one taking this exam among my circle of friends, I feel like it's harder to study since it's just me.

advice please.

Personally, I took my NCLEX RN just a few days ago. I got 75 quertions on the NCLEX and the good pop up :) I bought the Saunders RN app for the iPhone. I completed all the questions in the app, and read most of the rationales. I chose it over ATI because I already had access to the ATI question bank thru my university. I also bookmarked a lot of the hard questions on the saunders app to practice them again. The app was very helpful and the questions were very similar to the questions on the test. I also used ATI a little bit and got access to my friend's Kaplan q bank. Overall, I did about 2000 practice questions. I also reviewed important lab values and got the Kaplan book from my local library...free! :)https://allnurses.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8697&amp%3Bd=1310274877That is also a veeeery helpful link I used! :) let me know if u have any other questions

See above :)

thanks for the advice jocelyn, i've been doing the same for all of the saunders apps....

@simone, my first advice is to file for your ATT/eligibility ASAP so that you can take the exam so that everything is still fresh...

anyone else have some words of wisdom?

i bought the saunders app for the iphone too and finished all the questions. i think its a good tool esp. if ur not at home (like me i was working full time) so i use it at work if have time to sit and study. kaplan is very good, to be honest , kaplan helped me answer my nclex questions bec. i got a bunch of management questions on my test. good luck to you! im sure you'll be fine :) and jocelyn is right, make sure u study normal aues bec. they ask a lot of those :) GOOD LUCK!!!!! yay

thanks... i'll focus more on normal values. the anticipation is killing me.

oh, how I hope this is the last month I'll have to review so that I can start the rest of my life.

im sure u'll be fine. plus .. pinoys are smart :)
