2 DUI's: any hope?

Hello all,

I got my first DUI during the third semester of my ADN program. Upon graduating and applying for the NCLEX, I was denied my license. I decided to appeal the denial and go for my BSN while waiting for a settlement with the board. In the summer of 2017 I signed the settlement that granted my license on probation. Since then, I have been studying for the NCLEX and awaiting the ATT from Pearson. With that said, my probationary period has not started and I do not have my RN license.

About a month ago, I slipped up and got a second DUI. I know--its downright stupid. I have since been attending AA meetings and quit drinking altogether. Since the incident, I've thought that I had completely ruined my life. I have been contemplating my next move, and have considered giving up on the possibility of ever becoming a nurse. Each and every day I've been exploring alternate career options. In the end, Im lead to look at the bit of hope that I have that it will be okay.

A few days after I was arrested, I received a letter from the BRN inquiring about the incident. I will wait until the court date to gather the necessary files and mitigating evidence.

Does anyone have any experience with disciplinary actions with a license on probation?

Any advice on what I should do in the meantime? I've been considering another degree, volunteering, etc.

    I have experience with the PA BON, they are usually willing to work with you if you are willing to enter into a voluntary recovery program and follow whatever direction is given to you. Hoops, a lot of hoops. It might benefit you to enter into a recovery program and document meeting attendance, graduation from an IOP or inpatient treatment center and above all things lawyer up. I was super fortunate to have a great group of people that filled me in on what the process could consist of and I'm glad to pass that on to anyone that may require some hope in moving forward.
