Double Specialty?

Hello all! I'm new to this site and I'm still a student, but I had a question regarding psychiatric nursing and forensic nursing. I'm doing my mental health rotation and I know that this is the path for me, I just wanted to know if I could (hypothetically) specialize as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and as a forensic nurse practitioner? Is it possible? Is it stupid? I'm just curious ?

Thank you for taking the time to reply! ?

I work on a forensic inpatient unit as a PMHNP-- my population is individuals who are being assessed for legal competency to stand trial for criminal charges. It's a fun job if you enjoy psychiatry, law, the intersection between the two and are okay working with patients who may have committed some pretty horrific crimes.

Or are you thinking forensic in the context of SANE nursing? In which case I think it is theoretically possible - particularly if you are working as a consult liaison PMHNP in a ED or hospital setting, but I haven't looked into this path.

Thank you for the reply! And yes, I meant more in the context of SANE nursing. Your job sounds so cool! ? I hope to get there one day!
