Does the school matter?

Published

Hi everyone,

I need some advice, I am two classes away from completing my pre-nursing requirements, which are all from a regionally accredited community college in CA. I will be finished by the end of Summer so maybe early August. I have a bachelors in public health and I have already applied to Samuel Merritt ABSN program and Dominican University of California BSN program. I am also planning to apply to sf state accelerated BSN program and cal state east bay BSN as well. Now say if I get waitlisted or rejected I was thinking to apply to Unitek BSN program, however I wanted to know if I want to study further and obtain my MSN or NP, can I use the degree from unitek? Considering all my pre-reqs are from a regionally accredited college, unitek it CCNE accredited, would colleges accept that degree? Thank you 🌸

When it comes to bedside nursing, I don't think the school really matters, it's just the experience you have developed through your work experience. However, when it comes to going to grad school, the school may matter if two applicants may have similar work experience and backgrounds. However, this may vary depending on what school and program you are applying to, as I am basing this off of personal knowledge. Also, it depends on how competitive the program is as well. Best of luck!
