Hi I am a nursing student in New Jersey. I really want to become a CRNA one day. Right now I am starting with my associates in Nursing, then I will hopefully get a job and start my BSN in a RN-BSN program. Do you think it matters for the CRNA program where I go to get my BSN. Are most BSN programs fine as long as they are accredited. Should I be looking to get my BSN in certain schools only for example NYU school of Nursing.
Are they looking at where I get my education. On top of the other requirements.
Should my first job as a registered nurse be in an acute care setting. I know I need at least one year experience in this area. Thank you for any info you give.:hrnsmlys:

Nursing Anesthesia programs require that you obtain your BSN from an accredited school of nursing...with very good grades. Programs are not looking for BSN graduates from select nursing programs. Nurses apply all over the country just to gain acceptance to CRNA programs. Just remember that you must do all you can to be competitive. Keep your grades up...work hard now and play hard later.
As for your first job, you should aim for critical care right out of nursing school. While this is not absolutely necessary, delaying working in critical care will slow down your application process. Also, IMHO, there is nothing to gain by working on a med-surg floor before working in critical care. Do not let others sway your decision with talk of time management skills...blah, blah, blah. Good luck in your endeavor...
