Does discharge OASIS require a visit?

Hello

I'm a former home hospice nurse (4 years) that required no oasis documentation, who recently transitioned to straight home health under strict Medicare guidelines. I am still very rusty.

I have 3 discharges scheduled tomorrow.

2 discharges from nursing services only and 1 discharge from agency

Could I do either Oasis documentation requirements without an in home visit utilizing the "look back" option?

    Yes you can do a nonvisit Oasis or a visit. I am payed per visit so we code as ODB (oasis discharge billable) or ODN (oasis discharge nonbillable) we do not get payed for the nonvisit so those are usually saved for people that fall out of homebound status or refuse services. I like to go and reinforce all my teaching over the cert period. So I go unless there is a good reason not to.
