Documenting

I am in my first semester of nursing school and am not clear of when we use the following:

ADPIE

PIE

part of nursing process---and that's all I got.

-I'm in my 3 week and they have us doing SBAR, which is good practice, but it seems to be jumping right into care plans and concept maps. I feel like I am all over the place

ADPIE / PIE - This is your overall nursing process and how you should be thinking when taking care of patients. Depending on whether or not the patient is a new admission (and the plan of care is the same), you might omit the A or D. This ties in with care plans and checking patient progress.

SBAR - This is a communication tool. You follow the order of SBAR when communicating about the patient to, say, the healthcare provider or when explaining the situation to another nurse (i.e., giving report).
