I have been an L.P.N. since 1972. I am 51 years old with fibromyalgia and arthritis. I injured my knee in July. To make a long story short, I am not able to return to my present position due to the walking involved. My doctor said I could return to work at a sit-down position. I'm not sure there is one available for me at my present place of employment. I have been a Nursing Home Nurse, Hospital Med/Surg Nurse, E.R. Nurse, O.R. Nurse, Urology Office Nurse, and lastly a Family Practice Clinical Staff Nurse. I have almost every skill. Even ACLS. Now that I am not able to walk, is this the end of my career? Does anyone have any suggestions as to a sit-down job for me as a nurse in this position? Or should I apply for disability? I live in a fairly remote rural area in Northern Michigan.
