Delegation

Hey everyone! This is my first post, so go easy on me! My name is Joey, been an RN for about 3 years now, all MICU experience up to this point. Just started in an inner-city, high volume ED here in Baltimore back in October. So, having some real issues with delegating to some of our techs, they really aren't motivated for assisting with new admits, or really with anything, it's like pulling teeth and I've lately just been doing everything myself to avoid the bitterness. Gotta be honest though, getting very very burned out, very very quickly. I recently spoke with my NM, nothing has changed. I've tried everything when approaching these people, when they give me a hard time, I use reason to try and get things done, asking them,"is what I am asking you to do a danger to yourself? Is it a danger to the patient? Is it illegal?" Things like that, that way when they refuse to do it, they are clearly refusing to do their job, grounds for penal action. Pretty desperate here guys, any better delegating tips??

Joey
