I am currently a Lpn student but I was planning on bridging over to RN the semester after i graduate and I was told today that it would take 3 more semesters and im confused as to why seeing in RN program is only 5 semesters by itself while lpn is only 3. Ill already have three semesters down , why do we have to go for 3 more? And when do mobility programs normally start? Im not getting much info from the program im in because they are in the process of changing their curriculum so things will be different.

I'm not in an LPN-RN transition program but, I wish to transition eventually. The way my local program works, the first semester is just a short transition course over the summer and then you enter the 2nd year of the RN program (last 2 semesters).
So traditional RN does prerequisites then 2 years (fall and spring semesters, no summer) of nursing courses. (4 semesters total of nursing courses)
And, LPN-RN does prerequisites, takes the transition course over the summer and joins the traditional RN students in the 2nd year of nursing courses. (transition course plus 2 semesters of nursing courses).
Hope that makes sense and answers your question but, alll schools do things differently.

It does make since Thank you! I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do all that but oh well I guess. If everything works out I should graduate with rn May 2019
