Im a male and I'm getting ready to take the CNA class at Macomb. Good luck to us both!!
Let me know what where you end up and what benefits you'll have, and any other info and experience you wish to share.
I had job offers from school to work at nursing home starting at $10Hr. I interview for two hosipital positoin in Detroit but no reply at $12 and this was before I took the state test.
Best of luck to you. Let me know how everything ends up.
Re: AM Frances: I don't want to sound negative, but there aren't many places that will be willing to pay more than $12/hr; the most you'll get is $10/hrs. I'm working with this company since I lost my job after 10yrs of employment. Now I'm currently making $10 and that's with 19 years experience. That is a deep cut in my pocket and I don't receive benefits . The good thing that came out of me loosing my job is that I got the chance to go back to school to pursue my nursing career :loveya: . I should be graduating soon :loveya:. So again good luck with your search to find a job as a CNA paying decent money. With all that said the job itself can be very rewarding, and I do love working with the elderly :redbeathe
Did the nursing home offer you and benefits? Also, did the the hospitals you interviewed for offer benefits?
dear dream2011
yes the nursing home do offer benefits, but they only want to give benefits to the employees only, and if you want benefits for your family that's when you'll be paying out over half of your earnings on benefits . i never got the oppurtunity to work at a hospital . but with going to clinicals for nursing school, i do talk to the employees there and it's the something there. when i worked for a big health system they did cover me (the employee), but i had to pay for benefits for my family ($350 monthly) . i hope this answer this question.
