Columbia DNP 2018

Specialties Doctoral

I was recently accepted to Columbia University's Post-BSN DNP Program in pediatrics. I was super excited and had applied for the palliative care sub specialty. They asked for my $500 tuition deposit which they say is non-refundable. The incoming class was then invited for a pre-advisement session and they announced that a) they are no longer offering a part time option, b) they are no longer offering the palliative care subspecialty, and c) their acute care track is not fully accredited but they're "working on it." I am so disgusted that they would announce these crucial changes after taking the deposit and I have already emailed the school asking for my money back. I feel it is false advertising. Is anyone else out there starting Columbia's Post-RN DNP program this summer?

Wow, they've got guts making those announcements after taking your deposit. No part time option? Really? Don't most np students work as well?

I know! For an advanced degree my assumption would be that they would not have any full time students since most people at this point in their career already have a family, mortgage, kids, (not the 20-something college student lifestyle) and wouldn't be able to afford working only part time or per diem while going to such an expensive school. I'm curious to know how many students will actually attend. Luckily I got into NYU's program which ONLY offers part time. Smart!

Did ya get your money back?

Wow this is upsetting!! How could an ivy league institution be struggling with accreditation for their acute care track? Fight for your deposit back!!

Hello, that is astounding for a non-refundable requirement. I am glad I found your post as I was just looking at their info. I plan on applying to a few schools,Columbia and NYU included. Since you opted for NYU, how is their DNP program? Is it primarily online or do you have to commute to classes on campus? & do you find it manageable with work?
