CNA in Training Moving- PLEASE HELP!

Hello there. My fiance is getting her CNA in San Diego. She already finished the class part (I believe 4 weeks of classroom training). She just started her clinical at a hospital last week. We are looking at moving to NJ in 4 weeks-leaving her with 2 weeks left on her clinical.

Now for my question-is there any way for us to move to NJ, finish her clinical there in NJ and take the NJ test, or will she have to retake everything from scratch? We are moving to Ocean County (Brick/Toms River area).

If anyone knows the process and how/where we might be able to go about doing all this, it would be a huge help.

Thanks! :loveya:

I've never seen a program that would accept partial training in one state and finish up where you left off. There are just too many variables between programs, and there's no financial incentive for them to do that. Differences in practice laws (covered in the in-class portion) would be a deal killer by themselves.

If New Jersey will accept reciprocity from California, her best bet would be to stay and finish the course to obtain certification, and then request reciprocity. (And then join you in NJ.) The New Jersey Dept of Health and Senior services regulates CNA's. The information on reciprocity is at: http://www.state.nj.us/health/healthfacilities/nadetail.shtml

Good luck!
