CNA Reciprocity

Nurses Career Support

Hello Everyone

I'm a CNA in Maryland for about 3 years and I'm looking on moving to North Carolina. I already got the job but I did not challenge the board to write the test. I don't know how to go about it. I've been working as a CNA since I got my license and I'm also studying nursing. How can I challenge the board to write and how long does it take to get the results and be listed. Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by write the test.(?) As long as your certifiction is in good standing in Maryland you should be able to apply for reciprocity in another state. Fill out the aplication for reciprocity and pay the fees if the state requires it, some states don't have a fees. You can check that state registry for update of your status..usually 10-15 business days.

I think rules have changed because if you're a CNA from Maryland you can't work in North Carolina if you don't have a GNA. They say only GNA is able to to apply for a training waiver. When you succeeded on getting the training then you'll write the States written exams as well as the skills so that you can be listed in the States registry.
