CNA programs in GA???

Published

I am currently working on gaining my BSN, in the hopes on one day becoming a CRNA. Right now I am taking some pre-req classes and I'll enter the accelerated BSN program in the Fall. Anyway, while I am doing that I was hoping to get certified as a CNA to gain some critical care experience. However, I've been having trouble finding CNA programs in GA. Most of the schools offer MA programs, but very few offer CNA programs. Has anybody here gotten a CNA in GA, if so can you give me some information about which programs to look at?

I got my CNA in March from Elite Medical Training. They are in Tucker, GA. Usually, the fee is $500 and does not include the test fee(which is roughly $107). That $500 price may include things like CPR Certification, etc..,

Elite Medical is the cheapest I saw so I was willing to make the drive.

Have you had any trouble finding work. A lot of people on here have said not to go for the cheapest one you can find and to shy away from private programs.

I didn't have trouble finding work because I was volunteering at a nursing home prior to finishing the course. They offered me a job once I told them I was a CNA student. But prior to that offer, I did have trouble finding work anywhere else. Alot of nursing homes want you to have experience... but those that don't require that are out there. You just have to search... the Internet doesn't show all the nursing homes..

And I understand what you mean by not going to the cheapest one but at the same time, the place I went to was cheap and good. You have to ask the program your interested in alot of questions, like "do you have study sessions?"(which this one I went to did), "where are the clinicals?"

The public programs are more money because its at a college/university. At the end of the day, you still take the same exam as the people who went to the private schools(paying $800 or less without having to take out financial aid). So just do your research for different schools (Georgia Health Partnership-the people who administer the exam has a link to the accredited cna programs in ga) and ask questions in order to make the best decision.
