CNA instructor in Texas

Hello all, I am an LVN in Texas and interviewed for a position as a CNA instructor. It is a private business being started by a new business graduate. I am a bit confused because she is doing a CNA course but also a PCT (patient care tech) course, I read the syllabi and they are almost identical except the PCT has more lecture/classroom hours. I asked if they would be able to take the state exam for nurse assistants as well and she didn't even seen to understand my question. Am I missing something? Is there a separate certification for PCTs now? They have already partnered with the local hospital so I guess they are okay with it, I guess I just don't understand why you would have two separate classes?

In Texas the CNA's are certified thru the Department of State Health and Human Services.I recommend you look at their webpage to get the low-down. The certification is monitored by DADS, a division of DSHS. I have the impression that PCT's do not receive state certification so may not be able to move from one employer to another as easily as the CNA

Thanks, I did look at the DADS site and it only refers to CNAs, so I guess you're right. I accepted the position instructing CNAs but not PCTs. Pretty excited!
