So I'm currently in the pre-req part of my nursing journey and I am so excited to FINALLY get on my way to become an RN! (like many of us are I'm sure) I unfortunately don't have that much support from my current employer. While they "encourage" us to go back to school, they want you to do it when you're not at work or ask for a shift change on a day to accommodate you (womp womp I know) well, there are a handful of CNA jobs at my hospital that I work at and I was thinking of switching to that but I of course need my CNA certificate? License first.
I have been shopping around not just for a good price but something that again, wont interfere with my job hours (I work Tues-Sat 6p-2:30a) I came across this school by my house "Health Sciences College of California" and they charge 2 grand for the CNA course a 10 week course and the price includes uniforms, books, CA Test and something else I forgot but anyways, I like many of us now Yelp-ed the place and it got a 1 out of 5! now take in mind, I live in the Inland Empire (1hr east outside of LA) so there's not much of a selection especially since I go to school 4 days a week right now but here's where I'm getting at: Does it really matter if the school is lousy apperance wise if you can get your license/certificate? HELP?

I don't have a CNA license but I would assume that the rep of the school doesn't matter since you will ultimately gain a CNA license. In the grand scheme of things, where you go to school for CNA will not matter one bit in terms of your future nursing career. Having some hospital experience might though. I wouldn't worry about it. Also, it might be because I'm older than most students but $2K seems like a lot for a CNA license or is that the norm?
I think it is kinda normal (the rate) since ROP schools offer them around here but the price they quote you doesn't include uniform, books, and test and well, the fact that they're ok with me making payments and work with my JC schedule (not gonna stop taking my pre reqs for RN)
Thank you for your words, I was thinking that too but I was just like agh... I can't find anything that works with my work and school schedule but I was iffy about the bad rep but I felt the same way like who cares about the school as long as I can get my license
