Hi Everyone,
I was accepted into CMSV's accelerated nursing program for Fall 2015. Has anyone been accepted? Anyone plan on going? I've been reading the review about the program as it relates to NCLEX passing rates and the nursing staff at the school which has been extremely negative for the most part. Is anyone currently in the accelerated program that can shed some light on this. I am very worried. I also got into Dominican College's 2 yr accelerated program for May '16 and will be applying to Pace's 1 yr program for January '16. Ideally, i was planning on going to Pace but they are very expensive. However, although the program is very rigorous, i attended an info sesh and found out they have a very high NCLEX pass rate.

I also got accepted to CMSV accelerated program as well as the accelerated program in Utica and I'm still waiting for College of New Rochelle to get back to me. From what I heard from CMSV, the traditional program is a wreck however the accelerated program is better (not sure why), I also heard the staff is distant and students have to study on their own time for the NCLEX. Which is why I''m struggling with whether I should go away to Utica (cost is 50k plus rent and food expenses may be 60k) while there's CMSV (so close to home) just mixed reviews . If there is anyone who went to the accelerated program please share your experience.
I totally understand where you're coming from as it relates to choosing a school. I've "kinda"settled on CMSV. I haven't made my deposit yet since the school is having an info session today as well as orientation on Wednesday. The information I receive will be the deciding factor as to whether or not I make the commitment and submit a deposit. i plan on asking about the NCLEX rates, the nursing educators and NCLEX preparation as well as clinical sites etc. Will you be attending today?
Hey @soon2bRN84, I'm also kinda settling in for CMSV due to that fact that I live close to the Riverdale Campus. Which track are you applying to (traditional or accelerated)? And I've already went to the informational and I'm going to go to orientation this wednesday. The informational is just a casual sit down with Ellen where you ask questions and she answers. There's no tour or powerpoint or view of the on site clinical lab so I'm hoping they show this in orientation. I was told that the accelerated track is better than the traditional and that the staff is disorganized but the way my financial aid is set up I would have to take the cheapest route therefore I'm gearing toward CMSV. Let me know how the informational goes and if you plan on attending orientation :)
lol seriously! I applied to the accelerated program at the riverdale campus. I have a graduate degree but somehow i think this might be my biggest challenge yet but I can't imagine applying to the traditional program. I know someone who graduated last may and she told me it was a hot mess but surprisingly she passed the NCLEX. I'll definitely be at orientation this Wednesday maybe we can try and meet up. Am I wasting my time going to the info sesh? should i just wait until orientation?
Also, did you get your BLS certification yet? if so where? I think I might do mine at Phelps hospital.
Yea the traditional program is bad, people were stressed out, I went around on campus speaking to nursing students and asked a simple question "Are you happy here" It took them a minute to respond, they were from the traditional program. Honestly, I would just wait for the orientation, when I went to the informational it was a Q&A and they gave me a sheet of the classes and price from the accelerated program. People would walk into the informational ask a couple of questions and leave. I was expecting more of an open house but that wasn't the case with the informational. I will be in the orientation as well, so we can meet up :)
I haven't yet unfortunately, after the orientation if I like what I see then I will get the BLS certification.
ok, i was also thinking the same thing.
Did you get an email regarding registration info for orientation? The welcoming packet noted that we should receive instructions but I haven't received anything.
