choosing a school for nursing

Is it better to go to a school like ITT tech for ADN verses a local Ivy Tech? I have heard Ivy Tech waiting list for the nursing program is almost a 2 yr waiting span. Atleast ITT there is no waiting list. Can someone give me their advice and personal experience on this.

I don't know where you live but I go to Ivy Tech in Ft Wayne and there's no such thing as a wait list there. You either have enough points to earn a seat or you don't. It's simple, there is so many seats (I believe 60 per semester but don't quote me on that) and they go in a points system based on your A&P 1 and 2, Engl 111, and PSYC 101 grades us TEAS V score. Don't get me wrong, it's highly competitive. If you can pull the grades, you shouldn't have a problem getting a spot. Hope that helps some! I don't know anything about ITT but I've read on here that it's super expensive.

You're very welcome! You can take your TEAS whenever you want but it can't be more than 3 months prior to applying I do believe. Most people wait until they've at least had A&P 1; however, some are just naturally great at retaining info and take them straight away while others like a lot of prep time. I have a few people in my class doing pre req's part time and aren't taking theirs until after A&P 2. I'm just about done with A&P 1 and will be applying in April for fall 2013. I have waited to take mine because I've been out of school for 15 years and really needed to almost relearn most of the science. I'm taking mine in January so I have all of the break between semesters to study and will take it before I get heavy into A&P 2.

HTH! : )
