Chatahoochee Tech for Pre-Req's

Published

Has anyone taken their science pre-req's at Chattahoochee tech? What are the classes like (A&P, Chem, Micro)? Do you feel they prepared you well for your nursing program? Where did you end up getting accepted and attending?

I took A&PII and Microbiology there, but dropped out when I found out that I did not need it for the other schools that I was applying to. My sciences are over 10 years old. It was too fast of a pace for me. I prefer going to a school that is on a semester system than a quarter. I took Chem at GPC and loved it, but Chemisty is nothing compared to the Biology courses. I was accepted into University Of West GA and just got accepted into University of North Ga(july 3) after being on the waiting list. I'm attending University of West GA and I love it.

I attended Chatt Tech for AP1, AP2, Micro, math 1101, psych 1101, and psych 2103. All my other pre-reqs I had gotten out of the way at KSU years ago. I've been accepted to Georgia Highlands' nursing program for this fall. The sciences were definitely challenging, but I studied hard and made As in everything but Micro, where I made a B. I definitely learned a lot, too. Can't say how well they prepared me for nursing school because I don't start for another month! I will definitely say this, though - having the right professor matters. I know people who didn't learn NEARLY what I did in the anatomies bc they were not fortunate to have an awesome professor like I did.

I'm actually taking courses now at Chattahoochee tech. All I can say is yes, the classes are hard. You have to absorb alot of material in 3 months time. You must get a good professor like the other post said. It requires alot of study time and memorization. If you're worried about transferring to another school, don't. Their credits are accepted at alot of schools that I checked. I will be applying to all the nursing programs in west ga when I'm done with my prereqs. Good luck.

AHH! CTC makes me so angry! Do not, I repeat do NOT rely on what advisors tell you! Get things in WRITING! Do LOTS of your own research.

When I was first accepted to the school, not only did I believe their statements that they would start an LPN-RN bridge within a couple of years, I also believed their recommendation on what to take in order to get into that bridge. Why do the LPN-RN? I was told it was much quicker, I could get my LPN, go work for a month or so, and pop right into a bridge program. Sounded great! Stupid me, I did not think to guess these people were just saying what sounded good.

Now? After graduating the LPN program... I am told I must two additional AP courses, a biology, an additional English, Psych, Humanities... maybe a math. Keep in mind, I specifically asked what classes I would need for this bridge, so I would not need additional prereqs.

Currently, the bridge program is vaguely... possibly in the works in four more years.

Ugh.

There are no words to describe how angry CTC makes me. This is not the first problem I have had with them.
